Here comes the moment when Kenyan children reap what they have sown throughout the rigorous eight years in Primary School. The Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya National Examination Council Paul Wasanga announced that the education minister Hon. Mutula Kilonzo will release KCPE results will on Monday 28th of January, breaking the month long expectancy.

This is a period when anxiety is at its all-time high for the pupils who sat their exams on December 4th after being delayed for a month due to the `mother of all strikes’ that hit the country towards the end of last year. The delay of results elicited anger among stakeholders in the education sector.

This coming week, the sheep will be separated from the goats and there will be tears and joy, both in varied proportions. It has been a tradition for private schools to top the ranks in the examinations while public schools trail behind. This has normally brought the government under scrutiny over its capacity to provide free and compulsory education whilst maintaining acceptable standards.

Last year 820,255 pupils did the exams and it is only a wait and see mood to find out how their performance goes upon release on Monday.
