COVID-19 continues to spread rapidly across the world day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. Here in Kenya the first case was reported on March 12th. Speaking to reporters on 1st of April 2020, the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe reported that Kenya had 81 COVID-19 confirmed cases.
In response to the gravity of the situation, the Kenyan government shut down all schools in the country on 16th March 2020.
In response to this, we have partnered with Safaricom PLC to avail all the content on our platform, Shupavu291, for free to all learners from 2nd April 2020 to 31st May 2020. Students in primary and secondary school will be able to access free Revision Lessons, Revision Papers as well as Wikipedia to help them keep up with their studies during the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, they can use our Ask A Teacher feature to ask questions and receive near real-time answers from teachers.
At Eneza, we are committed to ensuring that learning does not stop by providing access to learning and revision materials to any device however basic. Our learning platform Shupavu291 is a virtual tutor that provides comprehensive and quality revision materials via SMS and Web.
“These are difficult times for our country and the world at large and as a company, we are constantly looking at ways of being present for our customers. Through this initiative, we want to ensure that all students can access education content, whether through feature phones or smartphones and keep up with their studies for the time they will be at home,” said Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom CEO.
“Millions of learners in Kenya do not have access to smart devices in their homes. Eneza Education is committed to ensuring that they too have access to learning and revision materials delivered to basic feature phones,” said Wambura Kimunyu, Eneza Education, CEO
